Fraud Awareness |
||
|
We are aware of reports about telephone calls that appear to come from trusted organisations, including Report Fraud. Report Fraud may, in some circumstances, make outbound or return calls to individuals in connection with an existing report. These calls can follow: • a disconnected call Telephone numbers used for outbound calls may not always be publicly listed. Important – Do not rely on caller ID Telephone numbers can be spoofed, meaning a caller can make it appear as though they are calling from a genuine or trusted number. For this reason: • A number appearing to belong to Report Fraud does not guarantee the call is genuine How to protect yourself If you receive a call claiming to be from Report Fraud and you are unsure: • Do not share personal or financial information This is the safest way to confirm you are speaking to a legitimate representative. How we will contact you When we contact you: • We will already have context relating to a report you have made Reporting concerns If you believe you have received a suspicious call: This helps us identify misuse of telephone numbers and protect others. We encourage all members of the public to remain cautious. Taking a moment to verify a call protects you and supports wider efforts to tackle fraud. | ||
